How every example is calculated
Each example converts one annual salary using the standard American full-time baseline: 40 hours per week across 52 weeks, or 2,080 hours a year. Dividing the salary by 2,080 gives the headline hourly rate; dividing by 52, 26, 24, and 12 gives the weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, and monthly paycheck amounts respectively.
Because real schedules differ, each example also shows how the hourly equivalent moves when weekly hours change from 20 to 50, and what happens when unpaid leave shortens the working year to 48 or 50 weeks. The annual figure never changes in those tables — only its value per hour worked does, which is precisely the trade-off worth seeing before you compare offers.
